About Us

Mission Statement

Our deepest desire and wish is to make the world a better place. Our highest goal is to remove the suffering, misery and unhappiness of the people of the world, and to remove the causes of this suffering. We are here to serve, in our highest capacity, to spread the knowledge and wisdom of the ancient path of yoga to all who desire these tools. We pray that our work helps others to learn, grow and develop spiritually, physically and mentally. May peace, love and joy reside in the hearts of all.

Good Business Karma

Yogabasics.com is operated using the yogic principles of the yamas and niyamas. We embrace the yogic teaching of Ahisma (nonviolence) in our relationship to the earth. At YogaBasics.com we have a strong commitment to protecting the planet by becoming a carbon neutral and green company. Through Samtosha and Asteya we practice generosity through contributing 10% of all profits into our yoga teacher scholarship program and to non-profit organizations.

Timothy Burgin, Founder & Executive Director
Timothy BurginYogabasics.com is a blossom picked from the heart. Founder, designer and writer Timothy Burgin skillfully wove together several of his life’s passions - 19 years of yoga training, an education in studio arts and photography, and his love of computer programming and design - to bring the ancient teachings of yoga to the modern age of the internet.

Kelly Golden, Writer & Editor
Kelly GoldenKelly Golden joined the YogaBasics.com team in October 2007. Kelly is our primary writer for our Yoga Blog, and helps out throughout the site by editing content, fielding messages in our Yoga Forums, and responding to comments throughout the site. Kelly has been a student and practitioner of yoga for over a decade, and through the exploration of the physical and philosophical practices, yoga has touched every aspect of her life in a positive way. In her sharing of yoga, she strives to inspire in others the peace, well being, balance, harmony, and understanding that yoga has brought to her own life. Kelly graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1998 with a degree in Creative Writing. Following college she did freelance writing and editing before turning her focus more completely toward yoga and rearing a family. Kelly is also the facilitator of Neighborhood Yoga Teacher Training and is currently working toward her 500 hour Para Yoga teaching certification.
