Yoga with the Boss Print E-mail
Yoga just might be the new way to get a leg up on the corporate ladder as office yogis and yoginis are finding it’s an activity that they can share with higher ups. In fact, yoga is being touted as the “New Golf.”

“An executive might use golf as an icebreaker with a potential or existing client; it’s really more about drinking and socializing in a relaxed atmosphere — but yoga makes more sense for an executive seeking to take a pre-existing relationship to the next level,” said corporate consultant Amy Hedin.

The idea of practicing yoga with the boss might leave some feeling a little “exposed” but corporate executives see it as a bonding experience that leads to increased productivity. “I think working with people you like and sharing something with them makes people more productive . . . it also just gives my employees a second wind,” said Alice Marshall founder of Alice Marshall PR.

Have you practiced yoga with your boss, clients or coworkers?

I read about this in a New York article last month and I think it's wonderful news. There's been a bit of backlash from a few within the yoga community who frown upon this concept. I believe that's unfortunate. If the general masses--particularly professionals--gain an ounce of clarity, inner peace and just pure enjoyment, then more power to them!
