1,001 Pearls of Yoga Wisdom by Liz Lark Print E-mail
This compact book is a marvelous compendium of tips, quotes, and other gems of wisdom that cover the vastness of yoga and the exploration of its practice. The first 25-pages provides a general introduction to yoga followed by seven themed sections: Starting Your Day Well, Throughout Your Working Day, Time for Yourself, Relating to Others, In Times of Trouble, Winding Down, Ending Your Day Well.

The yoga postures, meditations, breathing exercises, mantras and mudras are interspersed with inspiring quotes from the classical texts of the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads, as well as from many modern Indian and Western teachers. The yogic practices range from basic to esoteric, and give this book depth as well as accessibility to all levels of yogic experience. The most enjoyable and unique facet of many of these yogic gems is how they reference other practices, creating a fascinating web of exploration and discovery throughout the book. This is a great book to have near your yoga mat or meditation cushion, and would be a great gift for anyone interested in the practice of yoga.

I also highly recommend it. It has given me knowledge and inspiration. The sections on different yoga paths was especially helpful to me as a beginner. When I am finding it hard to make my way to the mat, it helps me by offering insights and wisdoms that propel me a few inches forward into a deeper understanding of my own path, which then inspires me to continue my practice. It is a lot of book for such a small price, too!

Yogic Wisdom
Surrender appears easy because people imagine that, once they say with their lips ‘I surrender’ and put their burdens on their Lord, they can be free and do what they like. But the fact is that you can have no likes or dislikes after your surrender; your will should become completely non-existent, the Lord’s will taking its place.
