Sitar Secrets by Al Gromer Khan Print E-mail
Yoga MusicThe compositions on this Cd are based on Indian ragas, the melodic structure used in classical Indian music, which are used to create specific moods in the listener. And indeed these songs create the moods of mystery, introspection and peace. Al Gromer Khan is known for his fusion of ambient electronica with his expert playing of the Indian Sitar, and in these compositions he has also combined the instruments of tabla, guitar and various hand drums. The overall effect is soothing and meditative, and most tracks have a down tempo groove that makes them deeply absorbing and slightly trance inducing. This album would work great for a slow flow or gentle yoga class and the more tranquil tracks would be especially useful to be played during meditation or shavasana.
