Master yoga teacher Judith Lasater draws upon her training and experience as a physical therapist in her latest book on yogic anatomy. Yogabody is organized into five sections (the locomotor system, the vertebral column, the lower extremity, the trunk, and the upper extremity) and is filled with detailed and thorough writing, beautiful color anatomical drawings, black-and-white asana illustrations, and helpful charts.This is definitely a technical book, so those with no anatomy background may struggle with the writing a bit. But this book is filled with valuable tidbits of practical knowledge, especially in the experiential anatomy sections where hands-on exercises are described for practicing and teaching the anatomical concepts. The wealth of information in this book is best to be digested slowly over time and used to carefully interweave new layers of understanding of the physical body in your yoga practice and teaching. This book is highly recommended for yoga teachers and serious students as well as anyone who wishes to deepen their understanding of the physical body.

  1. I would love to win this book…I can’t afford a teacher and have been learning yoga from books at the library. This book would be the only one I would need to have in my home.

  2. I have been practicing faithfully for 8 years.I have been suffering from psoriatic arthritis for 30+ years and am 47. Prior to beginning my practice, I was unable to move my joints and was locked inside of my own body. Yoga and my teachers have opened me up to an entirely new world in which I can fully express myself and accept my body the way I was born. However, now I have amazing mobility and openess in my body and soul. I would like very much to have a copy of what seems to be a beautiful and important book.

  5. What a wonderful concept! I am a massage therapist and am also nearly finished with my 200 yoga teacher training. So much of my training has been based on philosophy that I have been looking for a book similar to this that draws deeply from the anatomy, and zeroes in on parts of the body at work in particular asanas. I am so grateful to see a book of this kind has been put into print and my svadhyaya as a RTT-to-be would surely benefit from it.

  6. I have the book “Power Yoga” and it touches on injuries and Yoga poses that can help correct these injuries. This book would compliment it well.

I am brand new and hope that yoga will give me inner peace and the poses will help with tightness, stress and axiety, I would love to be one of the recipients of this book to help me get on the road to a less stressed life. Living alone, after losing my husband to cancer at a young age of 42, I seem to be getting by emotionally day by day. I am turning to yoga to help with that.
