| Which side first?
I was asked by a student if there is a traditional side to begin a posture on. Do we start with the right side and finish with the left, or the other way around? If there is a tradition, what is it?

I've never heard of any reason to begin a pose on a certain side. As a teacher I usually lead the right side first to provide consistency for the class and to make it easier for me to remember what side I've done already if I'm in a complicated flow of poses. What is important is to do both sides of the pose to create balance in the body.

Yogic Wisdom |
The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
