lotus pose
when i cross my legs in lotus pose,my ankles hurt like mad especially the one which is proped under....i'm a beginner,its been a few weeks since i've started

Do not do any yoga pose if it hurts! Lotus is an advanced pose that requires a ton of hip flexibility to do safely. You can seriously damage your knees if you force your body into this pose before you are ready.

Slow and stead work on other hip opening poses will prepare you for full lotus pose. http://www.yogabasics.com/hip-opening-poses.html

And then you would first work with half lotus and slowly work towards full lotus.

That's true. It's so essential that the hips open up so that you take pressure away from the knees and ankles.

We actually have a great 30-minute class for the lower body that is a great way to open up the hips. Have a look!
