Hello,
My practice is still new, but I feel a overwhelming desire to teaching Hatha Yoga. I am thinking about taking a teacher training class at my local Integral Yoga Institute in New York City this spring, when my practice is a little more developed.
My question is, generally how are yoga teachers able to support themselves? Is it equal parts faith, Karma & hustle?
Thank you

Hi Shaheed,
Most yoga teachers only teach part-time and have another full or part-time job. If you live in a large to medium sized city it is much more possible to earn a living off of teaching full time, especially if you can live a simple lifestyle. It certainly isn't something you want to jump into, but there is also a point where you may need to take a big leap of faith to go full time.
If your passion and desire is strong and your karma is clear you can make a career out of teaching yoga. One part you left out of your equation though was hard work :-)

I am glad to hear the answer to that question, I was sort of wondering the same thing. I actually live in a small rural community of 19,000 people!
