Bikram vs. Hot Yoga Training
Bikram vs. Hot Yoga Training
Hi there fellow yogi's...I was hoping to get some opinions from anyone who is willing.....I am currently registered to attend Bikrams training in September 2010....but because of the franchising taking place I am concerned as to what will happen with the Bikram community. I am researching "Hot Yoga" training sessions which are obviously much cheaper...but I am not sure which training program will be in my best interest in the long run???? Are "hot yoga" studios as readily available as "Bikram" studios???? Any ideas would be greatly welcomed!! Thankyou! Namaste :)

Re:Bikram vs. Hot Yoga Training
I too would be wary of the licensing and franchising issues, especially since Bikram has sued studios in the past. My understanding is that you can only teach Bikram in a Bikram studio, but you can teach a hot yoga class anywhere you like. Bikram is a set sequence and script that you have memorize and repeat, hot yoga would give you much more creativity in your teaching. From my experience I've seen just as many studios offering hot yoga classes as there are Bikram studios, although if you want to relocate or travel there is a good network of Bikram studios looking for Bikram teachers.
Namaste,
Timothy

Yogic Wisdom
Whether things get better or worse depends to a considerable extent on our own actions. The recommendation of a yoga practice follows the principle that through practice we can learn to stay present in every moment, and thereby achieve much that we were previously incapable of.
