Re:Supporting Your Studio?
Supporting Your Studio?
I'm currently brainstorming ways to support independently owned yoga studios. If you have any thoughts as to how YogaBasics could support your studio and students please let me know.

We will be launching a new yoga teacher finder in the next few months as well as other upcoming resources. I would love to have a clear intention on how to support your studio as we continue to develop content, functionality and resources on the site.

Our core mission statement is "We are here to serve." And we wish to serve all aspects of the yoga population: students, teachers and studios.
Namaste,
Timothy

Re:Supporting Your Studio?
Namaste! Thank you so much for this topic. In many cities, yoga students or potential yoga students have an overwhelming array of yoga studios from which to choose. This is at least true here in Washington, DC.

Studios often distinguish themselves based on the style of yoga that they offer (Bikram, Baptist, Iyengar, Ashtanga, etc), but it seems that many more studios offer an array of yoga styles and do not fit one mold.

These "non-denominational" studios might also distinguish themselves based on such things as status in the Green Yoga Association/ecological practices, low class prices, cooperative ownership, nonprofit status or percent of profits that are donated, having a store or cafe in/associated with the studio, or more.

If Yoga Basics hosted not only a teacher finder, but a studio finder that would allow students to search for the above criterion (and more!), I think that would be a fantastic selection tool for yogis lucky enough to need to narrow down the options.

Many thanks and jai bhagwan!

Re:Supporting Your Studio?
Hi Ariele,

Thank you for the great suggestions! I will definitely include these options in our studio/teacher finder.

These are also great suggestions for other studio owners on how to market their studios, differentiating them from the crowd.

As a side note, I am looking for more inspirational quotes from spiritual teachers and texts to use on the "Yoga Wisdom" sidebar section, and I would love to find some from Bapuji. Do you have any that you wish to share or point me to a source for these?
Namaste,
Timothy

Yogic Wisdom
The challenge, and the opportunity, that Yoga presents to us is the possibility of breaking the conditioning cycle. We do this by becoming aware of the depth and pervasiveness of our patterns and, at the same time, by working to change them. And true transformation begins at the moment that we become aware of our actual condition.
