Hi,
I'm diagnosed with Chairi Malformation which is a serious neurological condition, Chiari Malformation occurs when the cerebellum found in the bottom portion of the brain, falls through the base of the skull and squeezes down onto the spinal cord. The pressure causes symptoms such as headaches, balance problems and fullness in the ears.
My questions, what are the best poses for this and what poses that I need to be careful.
Has anybody have a neurological condition and what helps?
Thanks, Tammy

Hi Tammy,
Unfortunately I am not familiar with this condition, but from what I understand I'm not sure any yoga poses would help with this. I would consult your MD or a PT and see if they could give you some insight as to what types of movements to do or avoid. Otherwise you will need to do some trial and error to find out what works.
I would think that inversions may help, but I can also see that the increase of blood pressure that they create in the head could also aggravate your condition. So you may want to start with some mild inversions like downward dog and see how they feel and affect you.

Hi!
We at Aiyana Wellness, have a program "Yoga Face Toning" which works on the 57 muscles of the face, neck & scalp. It is a subset of Asthanga Yoga. It increases blood circulation more then 10 times, and works on the endocrine system through the muscles & nerve ending.
I am not sure about your condition but will check with our advisor who is a leading Neurological Surgeon from India & known Internationally as well.
If your Dr ok's , what you can do is exercise which would I think dispatch pressure by increasing circulation.

Yogic Wisdom |
Can you see the holiness in those things you take for granted--a paved road or a washing machine? If you concentrate on finding what is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul.
