Hi all,
My name is Rob and I have been practicing yoga off and on for about a year now. I love practicing when I can given my schedule and as much as I would love to go to the local studio (Frog Lotus Yoga) in the Berkshires of MA at least once a week the pricing is a bit tough on my current finances so I decided to start my practice at home and go to class when I can afford it. I am looking forward to learning with this board and making new friends.

Hi Rob, glad to hear you have found yoga! I've found having a home practice to be very important, even if it is just a few minutes a day, and then supplementing with classes and workshops to go deeper and to motivate my home practice. I would highly recommend you check out the Kripalu yoga center in Lenox, I think you can get a day pass that is not very expensive.

Timothy,
Thank you for your advice. I have heard of Kripalu and it has an AMAZING reputation. I will have to check out the weekend pass thing that you wre speaking of. I need a weekend of rest and time to reflect. I think I am going to go check out some of the weekend ideas that are on the site or in the catalog.
I actually woke up a half hr early today just to do some yoga and it helped my entire day. My goal is to work on a practice that is at least once a day (most likely in the morning) and see what develops. I love to write about expereinces as well so I have been keeping a journal for the last month and I am also combining the yoga with meditation so I am going to see what develops over the next few months. Have a blessed day.
Namaste

Hi Rob,
I'm excited to hear of your goal for daily practice, it definitely helps to do your practice first thing as it is easy to drop if you wait until later. Please keep us updated on your journey, sharing any of your experiences here with us.

Yogic Wisdom |
These days, my practice is teaching me to embrace imperfection: to have compassion for all the ways things haven’t turned out as I planned, in my body and in my life – for the ways things keep falling apart, and failing, and breaking down. It’s less about fixing things, and more about learning to be present for exactly what is.

Ahimsa, the yogic practice of non violence must be adhered to when engaging in the practice of hatha yoga. Respect your body's limitations and inner wisdom, if something feels wrong or dangerous, please do not do it.
Please consult your health care practitioner before starting a yoga, pranayama or other exercise program.
