NEW- hello!
Hello everyone!

I'm so glad I found this!

My name is Amanda and I am new to yoga. Well, sort of. I actually tried it a year ago when I was feeling awful at school and couldn't figure out why. It was the only thing that would allow me to relax and sleep. It turns out I had an awful infection and had to take medical leave. With all the commotion of illness and then finishing school I stopped doing yoga because it was difficult to keep up with a routine.

A year later I have decided to try it again knowing that it really did make me feel better. I look forward to enjoying its many health benefits and learning about something that is completely foreign to me. I also look forward to finding wonderful people to learn from.

I actually write about my progress on my personal website if any of you would like to read it. My writing style tends to be somewhat humorous for now as I am learning the ropes of all of this.

If you have any tips or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Yogic Wisdom
You cannot understand life and its mysteries as long as you try to grasp it. Indeed, you cannot grasp it, just as you cannot walk off with a river in a bucket. If you try to capture running water in a bucket, it is clear that you do not understand it and that you will always be disappointed, for in the bucket the water does not run. To "have" running water you must let go of it and let it run.

Ahimsa, the yogic practice of non violence must be adhered to when engaging in the practice of hatha yoga. Respect your body's limitations and inner wisdom, if something feels wrong or dangerous, please do not do it.
Please consult your health care practitioner before starting a yoga, pranayama or other exercise program.
