| arm pain

I have been practicing yoga for almost a year now. Last summer I attended a mini camp where my instructor warned us that in the beginning we might experience some wrist pain from down ward dog and chaturanga, etc. Well, now it's February, and I practice almost every day, with sun salutes a big part of my practice, and my arms have been hurting a lot, both muscle and bone pain. I've paid attention more to my posture while going from plank to chaturanga, etc. so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. Does anyone have any ideas, or do I just need to suck it up because I'm building up my muscles through my practice?

Dear dialogofadream,
The phrase "no pain, no gain" does not really apply in yoga, and most often symptoms of pain indicate that the pose needs to be adjusted or modified to suit your body's needs. Usually some muscle discomfort is acceptable, but any sharp joint pain is completely unacceptable.
If you could be very specific on where the pain is located and what movements illicit the pain then I can give you more specific advice.
