Hi!
I read somewhere that "The Art of No Thinking" is an important part of the yoga practice. May someone please explain this to me in greater detail? How do you practice it? Do you learn this ability in all the different yoga styles? Do you also learn to stop thinking in meditation?
Thanks in advance.

Trying to stop thinking is futile. But you can trick the mind into no thinking by focusing your attention on a single object. Using the point of focus in meditation is the breath, but it can be any object. Please see our meditation section for more on this technique. http://www.yogabasics.com/practice/meditation-basics/

Yogic Wisdom |
There are three classes of devotees. The lowest one says, "God is up there," and he points to heaven. The mediocre devotee says that God dwells in the heart as the "Inner Controller." But the highest devotee says: "God alone has become everything. All things that we perceive are so many forms of God."
Sri Ramakrishna |
Ahimsa, the yogic practice of non violence must be adhered to when engaging in the practice of hatha yoga. Respect your body's limitations and inner wisdom, if something feels wrong or dangerous, please do not do it.
Please consult your health care practitioner before starting a yoga, pranayama or other exercise program.
