| Lower back

It is so awesome to have a place to ask questions!!! :) This morning I did my yoga and, of course as a beginner I expect my muscles to be tight. I do wonder about my lower back. I find during the end, relaxing part, while laying on my back. listening to the teacher do a meditation, my lower back bothers me. This morning I hugged my knees to my chest during the laying on your back part. Wonder if this is common? Is it just tight muscles?

Hi Nasula,
It is somewhat common to experience some low back discomfort in Shavasana. It is usually due to tight/tense back muscles or back muscles that were overworked during your practice. This usually dissipates with time.
The next time you feel this you can bend your knees with the feet flat on the floor and let the knees lean against each other so that you are supported and can relax here. You can also place a bolster or a rolled yoga blanket under the knees and/or a folded blanket under the low back for support in shavasana. And propping the lower legs up on a chair also feels really good too.
