Are there certain postures that are good to do in the morning to wake me up?

My spine feels very stiff when I wake and I like to do postures that arch, round and twist my spine / back. I like to practice the 5 Tibetan rites in the morning to wake me and my spine up. It is also traditional to do sun salutations in the morning, which warms and invigorates the whole body. for instructions on the 5 Tibetan rights go here.

 

Ahimsa, the yogic practice of non violence must be adhered to when engaging in the practice of hatha yoga. Respect your body's limitations and inner wisdom, if something feels wrong or dangerous, please do not do it.
