It’s the directing debut for Pixar animator, Sanjay Patel, and part based on Patel’s experiences growing up in California with Indian immigrant parents. It premiered in June 2015 at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France and accompanied the theatrical release of Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur in November 2015.
